Why Bocas del Toro?

We are truly fortunate to call the Bocas del Toro Archipelago home. The three main islands are Isla Colon, Isla Carenero and Panama’s largest island, Isla Bastimentos, which is where you’ll find Azul Shala. To travel between the islands, we enjoy scenic motorized boat rides passing by mangroves, coral reefs, tropical birds and our beaches are legendary. As Panama is below the hurricane belt, visitors come from far and wide all year round to enjoy our slice of Caribbean heaven, which can be reached after a short 45-minute flight from the capital Panama City.

Why Azul Shala?

Azul Shala is an ideal environment for transformation, tucked away on a private island in paradise. We are a 30-minute boat ride from Isla Colon, the main island making this a serene location when you need to get away from it all, focus or replenish.

We check all the boxes: an environmentally conscious location, gourmet meals prepared with local ingredients, and ample space to roam, think and regenerate.

Amenities include an outdoor yoga deck overlooking the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea and rooms that deliver unparalleled views and the sound of soothing waves. This place is truly incredible! As a retreat leader, I was time and time again met with complete understanding and thoughtful accommodations. I'm blown away at this off the beaten path GEM! A HUGE thank you to the staff, chef, managers, and owners of Azul Paradise for accommodating such a large group (34 participants). You exceeded our expectations and we will be returning soon. Waking up in this serene paradise was a dream come true. We never wanted to leave. The meals were absolutely incredible and always fresh. We are so grateful for the chef being able to cater to our every need and especially for our guests that had specific dietary restrictions. This was by far our favorite destination and was great to have so many unique activities offered throughout the week. Local guided walks into the remote village, purchasing hand-made, locally crafted coconut oil and gifts, surfing, Zapatilla islands, snorkeling, SUP boarding & Kayaking, and visiting the Cocao farm were among some of our favorites! This place is not only a retreat destination, it is a unique cultural experience that helps raise awareness to the importance of Panama's diverse and fragile archipelago, culture, and eco-sustainability.

Had an amazing experience. Staff was 11/10 friendly and accommodating. From surfing, snorkeling, cacao tour( highly recommended ), dolphin watching, salt creek community tour or island/bar hopping this place had something for every kind of mood that I was in. I highly recommend and don’t see how you can be disappointed.
